From Bricks to Banking:
Cologne and Young America, MN

In 1926, envisioning a network of family-owned community banks, C.H. Klein acquired controlling shares of The State Bank of Young America and The State Bank of Cologne. Originally started in 1900, The State Bank of Young America grew into a new building at 102 East Main Street in 1964. In 1993, its current location was constructed just off of Highway 212. Originally started in 1903, The State Bank of Cologne has seen three generations of the Klein family serve this community: C.H. Klein served as President from 1926 until his death in 1961; C.H. Klein's nephew, George C. Klein, began his career in Cologne after graduating from Gustavus Adolphus College and eventually served as President; and George's son and current KleinBank President/CEO, Dan, served as the Chairman of the Board. In 1963, a new bank site was acquired and the present bank building was built.
